Care for Your Candle.
A little care goes a long way.
Follow these simple steps
to make your Outridge & Bowe candle burn beautifully, safely, and last longer.
1. Know Your Wax
Our candles are made from 100% soy wax, a natural product made from soya oil. Common with 100% soy wax, you may find imperfections, frosting or sweating visible from time to time. This does not affect the performance of the candle.
2. Storing Your Candle
Keep your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent melting, warping, discolouration and scent loss. Keep the candle upright and avoid windowsills.
3. First Burn
Your candle remembers its first light. Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel on your first burn to create a wax memory. This helps prevent tunnelling and sets your candle up for an even burn every time.
4. Trim Your Wick
A little trim keeps the flame calm. Before each burn, trim your wooden wick to around 0.5cm. This keeps the flame steady, reduces smoke, and helps your candle burn smoothly from start to finish. (You can gently snap off the blackened tip once the candle is cool.)
5. Safe Burning Tips
Light with care, enjoy with peace of mind Always place your candle on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, loose fabrics, children and pets.Never leave a burning candle unattended or move it while lit. Allow your candle to cool completely before relighting. Stop burning when about 1.5cm of wax remains — this protects your vessel from overheating and potentially exploding. Never burn a candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
6. Reuse or Recycle
When the flame fades, the story continues. Once finished, clean out your vessel with warm water and repurpose it — they make beautiful holders for plants, pens, or bathroom essentials. Our packaging is designed to minimise environmental impact and we're continuing to explore ways to further lighten our footprint.
